MonarchThe Monarch butterfly is important both ecologically and culturally, and is considered one of the most remarkable migratory insects in the world. Monarch caterpillars depend almost entirely on milkweed plants. Milkweed provides food and protection because the plants toxins make monarchs distasteful to many predators.
